WABI SABI RUG
We are constructed in memory; we are simultaneously childhood. adulthood and old age.
Inspired by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, described as “beauty in imperfection” and associated with a sense of peace and natural progression of life.
Visually the rug follows the metaphore of unfolding memory and is created in an asymmetric and dynamic composition that can be seen as multiple layers unfolding in front of the viewer.
The layers are translated into the rug with different materials and textures. for a pleasant tactile experience. The rug is hand-knotted in cut pile and loop pile with various pile heights, using tibetan wool, chinese silk and wild hemp.
